With Splitting Delight children learn and practice splitting numbers from 3 to 12 using split cabinets, a fundamental skill for developing fluent arithmetic. The teacher gives instructions using the back of the lid, which shows a real split cabinet. Then the children take a split cabinet filled with tools, tableware, or toys. They place the quantity cards in the correct spots in the cabinet. Using the tokens, they physically create the split, and then place the correct cards on the cabinet.
